IObit Malware Fighter

Introduction

In spite of the numerous free anti-malware programs in the market just a handful offers real time protection. They may scan and remove malwares, worms, Trojans, viruses, spywares and hijackers but if they can’t offer real time security then a window is allowed for a security breach. IObit Malware Fighter gets its effectiveness from the fact that it stops threats before they embed into the computer system.

System Requirements

Running mostly in the XP, Windows 7 operating systems and Vista, it also works with Windows 2000. It offers a free and professional version for users, one need to activate the free version in case they are impressed with the performance of the trial version of IObit Malware Fighter. The activation code can be entered online for the upgrade to take place.

Features and Performance Rating

The anti-malware is equipped with features including file guard, cookie guard, real time protection for startup items and browser settings. The pro version provides additional protection like USB disk guard malicious activity guard and process guard.

One can do a single file scan or full system scans both in the free and pro version. Also possible is to quarantine infected files, schedule a scanning process and the ability to ignore a list. Suspicious files can also be directly uploaded to the cloud so that the server can analyze and deal with it.

The program is not memory intensive, using only about 38MB for a thorough scan that takes around 30 minutes to complete. A quick scan takes only 3 minutes however when the scan priority is reduced, it will use less memory but take longer to finish.

To upgrade to the pro version, one only needs to spend $19.95 and all the additional features are open to use, however the rating of the anti-malware is quite low compared to most of those available.
